Cory Brandon Snell

Cory was born durning the year of Haley's Comet at Jewish Hospital on a Tuesday at 2:37pm weighing 8lbs 9 1/2 ounces 21 1/2 inches long. His Aunt Elaine was the first one to hold him just minutes old! He was the biggest baby in the nursery! He had the most amazing blue eyes!

Born in on March 4, 1986.

Some of my memories of Cory as a child were

 

He liked to tickle me (mommie) and count 2 5 3...

He would pretend to read the telephone book and say A X E...

When you said Happy Birthday...he would blow

He had 8 teeth at 8 months old

He was such a wiggle worm

In the morning he would ask my mom (Grandma Toni) if he could have a t-u-p of t-o-f-f-e-e with her (in translation cup of coffee)

 

He always loved money even as a small child

 

Cory and I lived at my mothers home with my siblings. Here is a picture of Cory and me with my sisters Elaine and Melissa and my brother Frank. Cory was everyones child...everyone taking some role of responsiblity for him.

Cory made the holidays so fun! We had so many memories with him...how he would get so excited about Santa! This is a picture of (me) Suzanne (Cory's Mom), Cory, Aunt Elaine, & Aunt Melissa at my condo in Hazelwood, MO.

Cory played Roller Hockey starting at the age of 8 and continued on through Highschool, earning his letter.  He played on various teams until about  a year before he passed away . We have a lot of memories going to his games and cheering him on.

Cory was at the hospital for most of the births of his much smaller cousins and siblings. He was 9 years old before he had cousins on my side of the family. However, he had 11 cousins on his fathers side, many of which he was very close to. He was always holding a baby or would have a kid on his lap at all the family events.

Cory Attended School at combs in Hazelwood before we moved South where he attended Sappington elementary untill 4th grade. We moved just a few miles away into our 1st house...he was so excited. Cory transfered to the Affton school district which he attended untill his Jr year of high school. He finished his last 2 years at Oakville High. Cory Graduated with a 3.5 grade point average. He was a good student and naturally athletic. I was so proud of him.

Cory attended Mizzou in Columbia, MO for 2 years then transfered back to St Louis, MO to UMSL. Cory never finished College and that was when some of his troubles began...

Cory had moved out of the house in the summer of 2007. He lived on his own for about 3 months when he became sick in October 2007. The "sick" was depression, at the time I wasn't really sure of what was going on but took him to several doctors with medication and it didn't seem to help. He even spent 3 days in a hospital. Cory then went to stay with his Grandma in Mexico, MO he was there for about 6 months. Everyone helped him his cousins, uncles, and aunts. He pulled out of the depression and was doing much better. Once again he tried to move out on his own and once again he became "sick" in about the same amount of time 3 or 4 months. It was October again only one year later in 08. He called me and told me "Mom Im sick again" I told him pack a bag and come home... He was here for about 6 weeks seeking alternative medicine and a neurologist. He didn't want to take anti-depressants again. Cory would tell me "Mom I cant go through this again u dont understand". Before we even got the results of his testings...he took his own life. I dont think that I or anyone fully understood his pain and his will to take his life. That was worst day of my life which has changed us all...forever. 

Passed away on November 20, 2008.
